Elementary
(Grades 1–6)
Our Elementary Program is split into two age groupings of 1st through 3rd grade in Lower Elementary and 4th through 6th grade in Upper Elementary. We have two Lower Elementary classrooms which we refer to as the Cardinal and Hummingbird learning communities. The Upper Elementary Classroom is called the Meadowlark learning community.
In the Montessori Elementary classrooms, the curriculum includes anything and everything! The starting point are the “Great Lessons”, which inspire and inform children on concepts of science, history, cultural studies, language, math, music, and art. These Great Lessons form the framework of the Cosmic Curriculum, inspiring deep learning and curiosity.
During the first three-year cycle (Lower Elementary), emphasis is placed on learning through concrete materials and process-based experiences. In the second cycle (Upper Elementary), students engage more deeply with abstract concepts and produce more formal academic work.
The Elementary program supports both academic growth and social development. Students work individually and in small groups, with lessons spanning multiple subjects. Self-directed research integrates reading, writing, math, science, and cultural studies.
